Almost 2000
years ago Yeshua was killed late on the 14th Nisan and resurrected either on Shabbat (Sabbath) or early on Sunday.
The first day of the week after the weekly Sabbath that fell during the Week of Unleavened Bread/Passover (the first day of Passover also being declared a special Sabbath) was the day of the wave-sheaf offering, the day when the High Priest would offer the ‘first-fruits’ of the year’s harvest before the Almighty at the Temple.
It was on this day that the resurrected Yeshua presented himself, as the wave-sheaf offering and
the first-fruits of a New Creation, the first human being to be granted and
receive eternal life since Adam and Eve.
But in being
the ‘first-fruits’ offering, he declared that others could also become new
creations in the Coming Age, the Kingdom of God.
As we enter
this day, the first day of the week, it seems
appropriate to cry out with joy, ‘He has Risen’!
We, thanks
to Yeshua, are able to be ‘born from above’ and also become ‘New Creations’! So
in a sense we may consider this our re-birthday!
“Therefore,
if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation — the old has passed;
look, what has come is fresh and new! And it is all from God, who through the
Messiah has reconciled us to himself and has given us the work of that
reconciliation, which is that God in the Messiah was reconciling mankind to
himself, not counting their sins against them, and entrusting to us the message
of reconciliation.
Therefore
we are ambassadors of the Messiah; in effect, God is making his appeal through
us. What we do is appeal on behalf of the Messiah, “Be reconciled to God! God
made this sinless man be a sin offering on our behalf, so that in union with
him we might fully share in God’s righteousness.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (CJB)
May today be
a day of great joy and celebration; a day of great anticipation as, with the
‘certain expectation’ (hope) based on trust in the unfailing mercy of the
Almighty, you look forward to your new life in the new world to come!
