If? The End of a Messianic Lie: An Introduction to Chapter 3

An Introduction to Chapter 3
In this chapter, Uriel speaks about ‘baseless hatred’ and in particular it’s very sad existence within Christendom.Much of Uriel’s personal introduction to this ‘baseless hatred’ came as a result of his proclamation of the truth that G-d is One and that no man, including Yeshua can be G-d.

Uriel discusses in some detail, some of the reactions and interactions he has with his fellow workers within the Nehemiah Fund and their associated persons and organisations. The shockingly strident, and virulent responses of these men and women of the Christian faith is almost beyond belief.

Among the less strident, but typical of the import and message conveyed towards Uriel’s so-called ‘heretical’ position are these two comments:

“If Yeshua’s deity is denied, Yeshua is denied, and we can’t have anything to do with you unless you repent. Rejecting the deity of Yeshua is a sin’.
And “Uriel is a heretic because he has denied that Yeshua is fully God and fully man, and he denies the Trinity …(he is) in very serious error … (and) in grave danger of going to hell … I detest heretics!”
These former friends, colleagues and fellow ‘believers’ accuse Uriel of presenting a toxic gospel; of preaching another Jesus’; of being apostate and no longer even a ‘believer’!

Uriel details their reactions to show an approach that is starkly absent of either love or ethics.

In contrast, Uriel shows most powerfully how Torah is not about what a man believes but what he does. Believe is an act of the mind, but ‘trust’, an act of the will, which involves doing something.

Uriel explains that it is our TRUST (in HaShem) that ‘is the engine that produces good deeds”. As Uriel shows this is emphatically confirmed in Sefer Ha’Hit’galut (Rev] 20:12: “…
And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.” (ESV)In this chapter Uriel also tackles the infamous Breishit [Gen] 1:26 Let us make man in our image, after our likeness …”. This passage is commonly used by Trinitarians to argue that G-d is in some way more than One.

While I have read many different interpretations of this passage, and had previously preferred the argument that in the ‘us’ and ‘our’ we see the use of the royal ‘we’, Uriel shows why this answer is not really satisfactory either, and then gives his understanding (which, at it happens, has been the preferred answer of the Jewish scholars for centuries).

This answer is much more satisfying. His explanation is so clear, emphatic and erudite that I won’t spoil it here by ‘spilling the beans’ too early – read on with great excitement and anticipation!

  1. As one of those accused by the author of expressing this "baseless hatred", I think you should take some time to read my responses.

See my review of the book "IF: The End of a Messianic Lie", which includes a documented challenge to many of his statements:

  2. Thanks Hannah. I read your very comprehensive response a couple of years ago. I will not argue with you regarding your personal dealings with Uriel or his or your 'character failings'.

And I find the detail on his persecution by your mis-named 'Messianic Community in Israel' unfortunate in that it distracts from the real importance of his book in exposing the shocking error of the Trinity, and the error of any belief in the pre-existence of Yeshua Ha Mashiach.

I see numerous errors in your treatment of this core tenet of his book. I would suggest you might benefit from reading some of my articles on these topics such as my articles on Yochanan 1:1 - see for example http://circumcisedheart.info/Torah%20dressed%20in%20Flesh.pdf

and on the error of your pre-existence doctrine - see http://circumcisedheart.info/An%20Introduction%20to%20the%20Pre-existence%20of%20the%20Messiah.pdf

I must also wonder at your motives in responding here, as you clearly have little interest in seeking the truth regarding the very serious doctrinal error of Hellenistic Christianity in promoting so blindly the doctrine of the Trinity.

To repeat I am in no position to doubt or question your explanation of your dealings with Uriel ,and of whether you have been fairly represented by him, so I will not engage in any debate on these issues.

I do strongly recommend that you heed Uriel's call to re-examine your belief, acceptance and more seriously, your promotion of the idoltarous doctrine of the Trinity.

    Shalom, Paul
